Christian Music
By Elizabeth Morgan
Christian music has become extremely popular of late. The music has become so widespread that some Christian FM radio stations have come up. The stations are fully dedicated to Christian music. Those who are not so familiar with this type of music feel that it's mainly religious music. A group of singers generally performs the music. But that's not all. Have you heard of Christian rock? While Christian music is the integral part of a church service, the Christian rock tends to break away from that ritual. Christian rock is performed with guitars, drums and other non-organ instruments. This is a section of Christian music that has caught the imagination of Christian music lovers.
Just like other music, Christian music has also gone through the same revolution to become more popular. In fact, modern Christian music has deviated from its original form, say the experts. The music has become so contemporary that you won't be able to differentiate it from other music you listen to everyday. The Internet has become one of the greatest sources of Christian music. You will find latest information on Christian music. You can read reviews of the latest Christian music albums that have hit the market. Many Christian music sites carry profiles on Christian artists. So, you can update your knowledge of Christian music on the Internet. Christian music reviews play a significant role in shaping up the listeners' response.
Christian music has been carrying out its duty with perfection, i.e., to spread the word of God. Christian music is an effective tool to attract people towards Christianity. The music has been influencing more and more people to explore the Christian religion. If you are a devoted fan of Christian music, we suggest you explore sites with music clips. Converting Christians to Christ
By Michael Tummillo
A pretty young Hindu woman was assigned to my desk for what the local University referred to as a "job shadowing" assignment. The objective was for the girl to spend 4 hours with an individual whose profession was that which she hoped to enter upon graduation. So, she scheduled an appointment with me and, at the appointed time, set about picking my brain in regard to the communications and marketing field. She was so enthusiastic and wanted to learn all that she could about America and its people. Naturally, we reached a point where our conversation turned to religion. She stated that it seemed everyone she met at school was overly concerned about getting her to convert to Christianity and how she was tiring of this. She said someone even left a Bible on the ground outside her apartment door and added, "If that's what THEY think of their holy book, well...I threw it in the trash." I said, "I assure you, that's not MY mission. I'm trying to convert Christians to Christ." She laughed. We had a great visit. She left with the Bible I kept by my computer and a promise that I was here if she needed help. My wife and I intend to have her over for supper.
Converting Christians to Christ? Yes, that's my mission - and with a sense of urgency. Far too many Christians are simply clueless about the teachings of Jesus, especially in comparison to what they know of the teachings of their denomination. Face it, not only has denominationalism never gained anyone entrance to Heaven, but it proves to be a very shaky foundation when times of testing come.
Do you recall the parable of the two building contractors? The Bible has two records of this parable. One is in Luke 6:47-49. The other is in Matthew 7:24-29. These verses record that the people were "astonished at His doctrine." Part of that doctrine was the story He told about building on a good foundation. Paul also refers to building a foundation as being part of the doctrine of Christ: In Hebrews 6:1, he says,"therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ...not laying again the foundation...." Paul then continues to list the content of the doctrine of Jesus.
As "Christians" - a word that means "little Christs" (after all, it's Him we should aspire to; the Head of the Body) - we must set ourselves upon something solid, a rock upon which we can assuredly set foot. That rock is nothing less than the doctrine of Christ. You see, there are three types of doctrine mentioned in Scripture: the doctrine of man, the doctrine of devils and the doctrine of Christ and of God. Second John 1:9-11 reads as follows: "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed. For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."
A CLOSER LOOK AT HIS DOCTRINE
Let's look at 2 John 9 in the original language, okay? Get out that concordance and check this out for yourself: 'Whosoever goeth onward' (Greek: pas o proagwn). In other words, 'Every one who goes ahead.' Proagw literally means "to go on before." (See Mark 11:9). That in itself seems fine, industrious, like an ambitious self-starter...but wait! The text then says: 'And abideth not in the teaching OF Christ' (Greek: kai me menwn en te didache tou Christou). NOT the teaching about Christ, but the teaching OF or FROM Christ.
There it is! THAT alone is the standard of Christian doctrine; the teachings FROM Jesus TO all those who choose to follow Him. Over thirty times the Scriptures make some reference, some variation, to following Him; only ONE to being "born again." I believe God's trying to tell us something. We Christians make every effort to get people to be "born again" in accordance with our particular denomination's system for doing so, but make a universally meager attempt at teaching the Doctrine of Christ and thereby making disciples as Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:18-20: "...Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Our negligence in obeying this command explains MUCH of the problem in the Body of Christ today. We're vastly illiterate to what the Teacher taught and display a gross lack of concern regarding that of which we ARE aware.
The walk of Christ is the example for the Christian walk. Look at these verses in 1 John 2:6; 7:16; 18:19. Why did the author write so much about this subject? When this letter was written, the Gnostics claimed to be the enlightened ones of the day, the thinking class, and were anxious to leave Jesus in the dust as they raced forth into their own brand of spirituality. This same struggle continues today among scores as they approach Biblical studies. Is Jesus merely some sort of landmark along our path, or is He the goal, our example, as He claimed He was? Progress is good, but progress TOWARD Christ is what's important, NOT progress away from Him.
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils," (1Timothy 4:1). It's clear that in these dark and evil days many will give heed to such doctrines of devils. Satan, who appears as an angel of light, and his ministers as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:14,15), are seducing multitudes across the globe.
Biblical truth has been replaced with emotional substitutes.
Entertainment has replaced searching the Scriptures.
Many are being deceived and downright lulled into a false sense of security as they settle for Religion over Relationship with God. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 tells us that before the return of Christ, there will be a major defection from TRUTH in the Body of Christ. Jesus stated in John 8:32: "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." We can be sure that Satan will do all he can to keep people in spiritual and religious bondage. Hosea 4:6 rings true. It states: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
The doctrine of Christ is presented by John as something required in order to have "both the Father and the Son." In presenting this concept, John uses the phrase, "he that abideth in the doctrine of Christ" (vs. 9). "Abideth" is from the Greek menon and means "to live, have as one's sphere; hence, to persist, walk in, or continue."
In other words, the doctrine of Christ is the realm of one who has God. I refer to this as one's "righteousness realm." To "abide in the doctrine of Christ" is not just an occasional acquaintance with His teachings, but familiarity and contact; you LIVE there and it resides IN you.
The doctrine of Christ is also presented by John as the means of revealing the worst-case consequences for recognizing a person's spiritual identity and acceptance (vs. 10, 11). First, the one not bringing the doctrine of Christ is characterized by "evil deeds." In other words, the absence of the doctrine of Christ is the presence of false teaching. Second, to accept, or fellowship, with those who do NOT bring the doctrine of Christ may lead to the spiritual seduction of the "partaker of his evil deeds" (vs. 11).
I'm stressing the two consequences of "abiding in the doctrine of Christ" to show the importance of this way of living. Some have wanted to segregate the two consequences. In today's ecumenical, why-can't-we-all-get-along climate, some seem to prefer belief in Jesus' deity as the sole requirement for fellowship. So, anyone who says they believe in Jesus' deity (doctrine ABOUT Christ) is considered a Christian. Those who restrict the doctrine of Christ to mean only teaching ABOUT Jesus and not include teaching FROM Jesus, end up accepting and incorporating the thinking that belief in Jesus' deity is all anybody needs. That's not belief; that's mere acknowledgement. Again, demons believe and they tremble (James 2:19).
We must understand "doctrine of Christ" in 2 John 1:9 to mean the doctrine FROM Jesus. Granted, we should exercise great caution in declaring what constitutes the Lord's teaching or doctrine. Those things that Jesus taught and/or exemplified or, at the very lest, implied, are the only things that can logically be looked upon as His doctrine. Some say, "but the Lord did many things besides what's written in Scripture...what if He did and said other things that we'll never know of?" It's true, John 21:25 says, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written."
Let's think about this for a moment, shall we? First of all, if we don't have it written down to follow, why worry about it? Either the Scripture that we DO have was inspired by the Holy Spirit or it wasn't (2 Timothy 3:16 declares that is WAS). We can ALL focus on what we DO have in Scripture easily enough and not fuss about what one contends that we COULD have, but DON'T have, because it wasn't written about. Doing otherwise is basing our beliefs on conjecture and assumptions. Ludicrous!
Secondly, regarding that verse, let's refrain from checking our brains at the proverbial door. In three years of ministry, subtracting the recorded miracles, bath time, dinner time, prayer time, alone time, travel time, weddings, Sabbaths in the synagogue, not to mention the townsfolk's work time, school time, cleaning and cooking time, and chores and errands that might have kept many people from running to listen to the Rabbi teach, that leaves very little room for many more miracles that "COULD" have been written about, logically speaking. Sure, He might have raised more dead, healed more lame people, but we caught the drift in reading that which we DO have and didn't need more examples, obviously, or the Holy Spirit would have provided us more stuff that He deemed necessary. As far as what Jesus taught, His message of redemption and salvation is already VERY apparent in what we DO have to read. Aren't they? Don't we have enough to understand these concepts? Could it be that there were some really different teachings - the kind of stuff argued about by various denominations today - that never made it into the Book? I can't swallow that. The things we already have are enough to keep us studying and praying and debating as it is. Why would He have done anything more that we cannot even read about? Such can only be referred to as anti-doctrine and must be classified as mere conjecture.
Third, what John wrote there in chapter 21 verse 25 was mere hyperbole; an exaggeration. If I told John once, I told him 'a thousand times," stop exaggerating! With all our differences regarding the doctrine of Christ, it's a miracle that entire towns were "turned upside down" by the preaching of the Gospel.
You get the idea.
Many will try to force 2 John 9 into serving as the proof text for dismembering the Body of Christ. That's not right either. Such a practice opens the door for the spirit of Phariseeism and essentially declares that if anyone's practices disagree with our group's understandings or interpretations, then they are not abiding in the doctrine of Christ. In other words, "MY idea of what constitutes Christ's doctrine has been elevated to equal footing with God's Holy Word itself!" That's the epitome of arrogance, and will only result in further divisions within the Church.
THE FIRM FOUNDATION
The steps for building a good spiritual foundation are given in Luke 6:47:
1. Whosoever cometh to me...
2. Heareth my sayings...
3. And doeth them.
All three steps are required. It is not enough to acknowledge Jesus and His deity; Satan does that much. We must also listen to then DO what He has said. We must take personal action. Luke talks about a person coming to Jesus, hearing what He says, then failing to respond: "Why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46). Anyone can read the doctrine of Christ and still not act upon it, preferring instead manmade doctrines and dogmas, traditions never once taught by Jesus that do nothing in terms of advancing His cause on planet Earth. Jesus is NOT truly Lord of a person's life until that person responds to His teachings. Far too often, Christians who claim to love Christ are far more enamored with their denomination or even their own spiritual work done in His Name.
The man who came to Jesus, heard His Word, and then acted on it is referred to as 'wise.' This man made sure the spiritual foundation of His life was firm. He dug deeper, outside his comfort zone - those first few inches of soil, removing everything between him and the Rock, Jesus Christ. the doctrine of Christ is the plan which shows how to build our spiritual life. It must be accepted as the absolute authority and the source of our spiritual foundation. Why? "...the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost," (2 Peter 1:21). The purpose of God's revelation is given in 2 Timothy 3:16: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." In other words, the Bible contains instruction in the basic doctrine of Christ. It also provides reproof and correction for failing to follow these teachings. Nothing else was needed.
CRACKS IN THE FOUNDATION
I knew a couple in ministry whose marriage was falling apart. Neither side would budge and the family of eight was literally divided. They were engaged in a civil war that wound up playing a huge part in the crumbling of an entire 300-member congregation. One thing that I recall vividly about their lovely home was this: an enormous crack in the foundation occurred during the time before he moved out, never to return. It literally ran diagonally from one corner of the house to the other, cracked the garage in half and shattered the driveway and a brick retaining wall between them and their neighbor. Extraordinary!
The man who built on a wrong foundation listened to the teachings of Christ but did not take personal action on what he heard. He is called a foolish man and is compared to a man who built without a foundation (Luke 6:49). His house was built on the sand instead of the rock (Matt 7:27). We build on the sand spiritually when we base our Christianity on the traditions or religious beliefs of man or of devils. It is thinking we can make ourselves spiritual or gain God's acceptance by our good works, church attendance, religious ceremonies and the like without any real, personal, relational, intimate knowledge of Jesus Himself.
Amazing! He's the ONLY way to the Father (John 14:6) but we foolishly try to attain that relationship by a zillion OTHER methods and systems INCLUDING Religion.
THE STORMS OF LIFE
Jesus' story of the two builders reveals another great truth; it's the nature of life on Earth to be stormy. Circumstances often result in many personal crises. We face death, disease, and disaster. Even Believers in Jesus face problems. Acts 14:22 warns that "we must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God." Jesus said, in John 16:33, "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." No one escapes the storms of life; they're necessary to test us and prove to us what we're made of. The storms of life are the same for all people are basically the same. What differs is how we respond to them. If your spiritual life doesn't have the right foundation, you will fall. What comes out of us when our come is shaken reveals what's been in there all along. Just as the house built on sand, the fall will be great. If your life is built on the right foundation - the teachings of Jesus Christ - the storm will not shake you: "Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain,"(Hebrews 12:26-27). When the shaking experiences come, that which cannot be shaken will remain. Those who stand have built a firm spiritual foundation.
THE FIRM FOUNDATION: A PRE-REQUISITE
As any building contractor can attest, a good foundation is a prerequisite for constructing a solid building. The word "prerequisite" means something is "required before." A proper foundation is required before constructing the "superstructure" upon it. A proper spiritual foundation is a prerequisite to spiritual maturity.
In Hebrews 6:1-3 we are told we cannot go on to perfection unless the spiritual foundation is properly laid. Spiritual maturity is the superstructure [the building] which rests on the spiritual foundation. If the foundation is wrong then the superstructure will not stand and you will never achieve spiritual maturity.
I believe that the lessons I broadcast by email explain things which must be part of our spiritual foundation. But as the parable of the two houses indicates, it is not enough to be INFORMED of the Lord's basic doctrine. We must make a personal response to these teachings and integrate these truths into the spiritual foundation of our lives. If we do not respond, we are like the man in the mirror described by James: "But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving our own selves. For if any be a hearer of the Word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass; For he beholdeth himself and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed," (James 1:22-25).

Priorities of the Christian - Reflecting Christ's Likeness in Our Disposition
By Paul Schlieker
Hockey Death No Surprise to Sports Observers - This was the headline on July 12, 2000 in the USA Today newspaper. In Lynnfield, Massachusetts, the father of one hockey player killed the father of another hockey player because he thought his son was being roughed up too much during a practice.
Years ago Ted Bundy killed 28 women and children. Hours before he was executed he was interviewed by James Dobson from Focus on the Family. Bundy offered this final reflection. "Pornography had an impact on me that was very central to the development of other violent behavior. I led a normal life - except for one small but potent and destructive segment of it."
Americans lost nearly 91 billion dollars on all forms of gambling according to the 2006 Gross Annual Wager Report. What is the motivation behind the 86% of Americans who have gambled at least once during their lives? Could it be greed - a desire to "get rich quick?"
Christians must come to terms with actions that do not reflect the likeness of Jesus. Behavior rooted in anger, lust and greed reflect what sin is like not what God is like.
The Bible teaches that everyone reflects a certain disposition. We either reflect the old disposition, which the Bible calls your "old self" or we reflect the new disposition, which the Bible calls your "new self." In Colossians 3:5-9 the apostle Paul describes the old disposition and it's not a pretty picture.
The old disposition has a prevailing inclination toward...sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed, idolatry, anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language, lying...
On the other hand, in Colossians 3:12-16 Paul describes the new disposition. The new self is a frame of mind that is characterized by...compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, love, unity, peace, gratitude, wisdom, encouragement...
These lists function like a mirror. In which list do you see yourself? The issue is which list describes your prevailing disposition. When Jesus comes into your heart, He brings an agenda with Him - to change your disposition so that your life reflects his likeness.
The world's approach to personal change is more education - a new book, a seminar, or a DVD. God's approach to personal change is a surrendered will - yielding your will to Christ with a humble and submissive spirit. Is there a new seminar that can transform an angry, lustful, or greedy person into a forgiving, moral, and contented person? No, but there's a Person who can. If you will let Him, Jesus will teach your mind, control your emotions, and govern your behavior. He can change your disposition to reflect his likeness.

What Is A Christian Marriage?
By Glen D. Williams
There is probably no event as ripe with promise and expectation as a wedding. Unfortunately, expectations of marriage are often the cause of early problems and sometimes, divorce. In this article, we'll examine what it means to have a Christian marriage, a marriage in the image of God, a marriage of three rather than two, and how the two become one. If you're not yet married or if you've been married ten years, be ready for some surprises.
Marriage In The Image Of God: We know it isn't our beauty, our sinless life or unselfish nature, so what could it mean that man and woman were created in the image of God? In my understanding, God is three persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) who are one eternal God. Anyone who has tried to maintain a relationship for longer than a few days can easily see how big a miracle this is. The Three have been One for eternity. All we have to manage is 50-60 years. This is one of the main ways we humans were created in the image of God...to live in relationship. The relationship that bears most closely to the image of God, is the permanent, loving, committed relationship of marriage.
Two Becoming One: Anyone attending a Christian wedding knows that the Christian concept of marriage is two becoming one. Most people don't know what that means in real life. Of course, on the wedding day, there's the spiritual union and the physical union which often brings little ones. However, the union most discussed in the Bible is the union of wills, desires, expectations. It's a process that takes a lifetime, so we'll take a little time to examine it here.
People get married for entirely selfish reasons...what the other person has done or can do for them (for example-attention, fulfillment, children, sex, food, house, family, etc.). Many of these expectations are not negotiated or even discussed prior to marriage because neither party is aware of them. That's because these expectations were just what they'd seen of marriage growing up, from TV, neighbors, family, etc. Every person has different expectations. Once the rings go on, all bets are off...the expectations reveal themselves and the conflict begins. What a wonderful system, right? Believe it or not, no matter how difficult it seems, God does have a plan to handle this.
His plan is called self-sacrifice. You can see self-sacrifice in Philippians 2, where He tells Christians to consider the needs of others as more important than their own. You can see it in Eph 5, where He says for you to submit to one another out of love for Christ, and to sacrifice yourself for your spouse. In fact, you can read everything the Bible has to say about marriage and never see where your spouse is supposed to meet your expectations.
By sacrificing what you want and devoting yourself to what your spouse wants and needs, you set an entirely different environment for the marriage relationship. Look at Php 2 again. Jesus, to serve the needs of the relationship, gave up His equal status with God, became human, allowed us to kill Him, and thereby got all His needs and wants met. Do you think He wanted to do this? In the garden, He prayed, 'Father, if there's any way, save me from this fate, nevertheless, not my will but yours, be done.' Now, this is a hard example to follow, but it's in the self-sacrifice of love, that we're created in God's image.
If two people are going to become one new person, some parts are going to have to come off. This is a painful process. Each of you is going to sacrifice about half of the self you were when you got married. When you have to sacrifice, it will not seem fair any more than the sacrifice Jesus made was fair to Him. If you're patient and willing to give even when it seems your spouse isn't giving, then you'll see the blessings of marriage you could never have imagined, the miracle of two becoming one in everything. It will no longer be a sacrifice, but a great joy. To get to that point requires faith in the promises of God and of your spouse. Many fall on the road, never to see the promised land of Christian marriage.
Marriage Of Three-Not Two: They fall because most people, even most Christians believe there is no difference between a Christian marriage and any other, but the difference is so profound, it could mean the difference between life-long loving marriage and divorce. In society at large, marriage is a contract between two people which can be dissolved at any time. In Christianity, marriage is between three people and only one of them can dissolve it. Yes, three people (husband, wife and God) are part of everything in a Christian marriage (love, children, sex, arguments, budget...everything). Not only that, but God is the only one who has authority to break the marriage up (see Christian Divorce Doctrine). A marriage of three is very different. As each of you gets closer to Christ, you get closer to each other. Instead of arguing, you seek God's answer to the issues. You manage the family money according to God's principles. It takes the pressure off of each individual, because Jesus is there to provide His advice and His power to solve problems. "A triple braided cord is hard to break."
Just like the Trinity, a marriage grounded in Christ is 3-in-one. Christian marriage is very different from any marriage, anywhere else. It's two people, each sacrificing to serve the other and become one whole person instead of two selfish fractions. Christian marriage is the image of God's relationship with Himself. From that relationship, anything is possible.

The Most Published Book Ever - The Bible
By Shawna S. Ruppert
Without a doubt, there is one book that has been read more than any other worldwide. It has been translated into more languages, had more copies printed, and been distributed to millions of more people than any other text. Bible trivia is all based on the writings contained within that single book.
Many people don't recognize that there is more than one version of the Bible, and that the difference between those parts is an important part of a Bible quiz. The Christian Bible is made up of two primary parts, the Old and the New Testament. The Old Testament also exists in a version written in Hebrew which is the Hebrew Bible. Judaism divides that book (called the Tanakh in Hebrew) into the Torah, the Nevi'im, and Ketuvim. The order of the Tanakh is different than the order of the Christian old testament.
Bible trivia shows that there are many different versions of the Bible which have been translated from different source material over the centuries. The King James Version is the most commonly used English version of the book today. Also, many different churches accept certain books as scripture in the old testament that others do not. For example, there are nine books, such as 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees which the Catholic Church accepts as canon, and the protestants do not.
Trivia will show that the New Testament is the portion of the Bible which is concerned with the teachings of Jesus Christ, rather than the events which preceded his birth. The New Testament can be divided into several different sections, the Synoptic Gospels, the Pauline Epistles, the Pastoral Epistles, and the General Epistles. There is less debate between christian traditions as to which new testament books to accept as canon as compared to the old testament.
A bible quiz will reveal some impressive statistics about the ongoing translation efforts to ensure that the book can eventually be translated into as many languages as possible. These efforts have been undertaken by a number of groups to try and make sure that people of all cultures, languages, and backgrounds can have access to the teachings in the Bible. These efforts were instrumental, for example, in the bringing of Christianity to many parts of Africa. To date, the Bible has been translated into more than 2400 languages. There are more than 600 ongoing translation efforts to help increasing that total.

Receiving Your Just Reward As a Christian
By Gregory Vanden Berge
Most Christians believe that their life is about glorifying God. Living a life on Earth as a representative of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. These people read the Bible often receiving what they perceive and believe as visions or understandings of the Scripture. If you ask a Christian, "What is your ultimate goal in Christianity?" You'll probably get a response like," To be a good Christian," or maybe "Seeking the glory of the kingdom" are how about "To actually perform a task like helping others, starting a church, missionary work or something along the lines of Mother Teresa.
I was listening to a sermon the other day when the pastor said, "That he would not do this if it wasn't true if I couldn't expect the resurrection from the dead, where everything would be paid back to me a thousand fold for everything that I have laid down for the service of Jesus. I wouldn't go this way."
Do you think this person is looking to receive their just reward as a Christian, living a life of a pastor at a mega-church and converting thousands to Christianity should give him plenty of rewards in the promised land. Now the problem I have is, when he mentions that he would not do this if it wasn't true. How does he actually know that it is true? Just stop and think about this statement for a second.
Some people respond when asked this question with total confidence. They might even respond with a look on their face like, "Helloooooooooooo!" You've got to be kidding me, Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior, he was God's son put on earth to fulfill prophecy or any other answer that sounds good but provides very little factual support to this religion. In other words, it might not be true, what if it isn't true and you've been caught up in a false prophecy.
How many Christians are living a life, seeking their just reward? These people are living a life of denial, wanting to do other things but can not because of their religious beliefs. If they were to try something new or different, this could somehow penalized them and eliminate their final payment or reward, for providing years of service to the faith of Christianity.
Christianity controls its faith like most religions, through fear, suffering, love and of course guilt. Without guilt, modern religions would have problems functioning. How many people give money or time to their religions based on fear instead of love? If you search your soul to justify your actions or beliefs, how many of them are based on guilt, fear or suffering, instead of love.

What Is A True Christian?
By Jimmie Gonzalez
It is a question that is asked very often. What is a Christian? Along with it are many other questions. What does it mean to be a Christian? What defines a Christian? What makes Christians different from people who aren't Christians? How can I tell if someone is a Christian? How does it benefit me to be a Christian? These are just few of the questions people ask pertaining to Christianity. Statistics show that about 33% of the world's population identify themselves as Christians. As a child, my parents were Catholics. So of course I went to the Catholic mass every week. When people would ask about my religion, without hesitation I would identify myself as Catholic.
So is it really that simple? If you were born and raised in Indiana, you would be considered a "Hoosier." So, if your parents were Christian and you grew up in a Christian Church, does that make you a Christian? Christianity, however, is not that simple. But who likes simple anyway? I was born and raised in Indiana and that makes me a Hoosier, plain and simple. But, how does that plain and simple fact profit me as a human being, as a husband, as a brother, as a worker, etc.? I grew up in the Catholic Church and identified myself as a Catholic, plain and simple. But, how did that plain and simple fact benefit me as I continued to grow from my adolescence into adulthood? If you asked me what I learned from going to mass, sadly not a whole lot. The reason why is simply because my heart wasn't into it. Deep inside of me, there wasn't a desire to learn anything. Do you know what it means to be a Hoosier besides being someone that's from Indiana?
Being a Christian isn't something that's inherited. It isn't something you become by association. It's not even about religion. It's something you become. Being a Christian is a choice, a conscious choice. A true Christian is a person who not only believes in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, but a person who willingly exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Jesus Christ. This person determines in their heart to read the Bible, study the life and behavior of Jesus and emulates it in their own life. They don't try to change the words of the Bible to make it appeal to them, but they let the words of the Bible change them, so they can appeal to God. The key word there is "change." The life of a true Christian will always exhibit change.
So, if a person identifies themselves as a Christian and they haven't even read one of the Gospels in its entirety, do you think they can truly claim to be a Christian? If one of the determining factors of being a Christian is exemplifying the life of Jesus through his word, how can you really know what you don't read? What if you don't apply what you read to your life? What if you know the Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself, but there are people you hate and can't stand? Should you still identify yourself as a Christian? How about if the word says to not commit adultery, but you call yourself a Christian while sleeping around? The Bible answers these questions very easily in Matthew 7:20 which says; "By their fruits, you shall know them." So if you know the word and what it says about morals and behavior, you can tell who isn't and who is truly a Christian.
No one can take credit for being a Christian. Nor can anyone self-proclaim themselves as a Christian. The Bible proves this in John 15:16 when Jesus said, "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you... " In the natural, there's no reason for anyone to accept Jesus Christ and change their lives to reflect His. This is because we are all born separated from God with a sinful nature. This makes us naturally rebellious towards God and anything that has to do with Him. What happens when we start drawing close to God is that His Holy Spirit is birthing those desires in our hearts, supernaturally. He ultimately leaves the choice to us of whether we want to draw closer or farther away. If we draw closer and receive Jesus into our hearts by confessing Him as our Lord and Savior, at that moment we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit and immediately "born again" out of the sinful nature and into the nature of God. Once again, this happens supernaturally, so in the natural, we don't feel it or perceive it yet.
To someone who is truly serious about letting Jesus change them; this new nature should result in a new lifestyle, a new way of thinking, a new way of talking and a new way of acting. This person reads the Bible, the Holy Spirit blesses him or her with discernment and he or she applies what they learn to their lives. This is an ongoing process. So when the Bible says do not commit adultery, we obey and become faithful spouses. When the bible says forgive as God in Christ forgave us, we obey and no longer hold grudges. We obey the word when it says to put off anger, wrath, blasphemy, and filthy communication out of our mouths. When the Bible says don't lie to one another, we obey and become honest. Implementing the word in our daily lives will bring us true peace that passes understanding. It will make us better husbands, wives, better mothers, fathers, better children, better friends, etc. God also promises countless blessings such as healing, overall total life prosperity, victory over the problems of this world and many more! The proof of us being Christian won't be so much in that we declare it, but in our actions and the way we live day by day!
